Re "Public Goals, Private Interests in Debt Campaign" (front page, Jan. 10):

The fact that members of a campaign to cut the budget deficit have deep business ties makes it easy to see where their recommendations will fall.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that their main objective will be to preserve the preferential tax treatment of the upper 2 percent.

Solemnly and piously, they will recommend privatizing and reducing benefits from Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. Our country will continue to lag behind other advanced nations unless and until we can eliminate these lobbyists and executives from policy decisions.
