Re "Harvard Search of E-Mail Stuns Its Faculty Members" (news article, March 11):
It's continually amazing to see how people with righteous agendas end up turning the darkest spotlight on themselves. In this case they were caught spying on their own employees.
Wouldn't it have been simpler, more direct and honest to have brought the resident deans together in one place and told them:
"We know that one of you leaked to The Crimson and The Boston Globe. We're not going to make any of you take a lie-detector test, but we warn you that if this sort of thing happens again, the wrath of John Harvard will be brought down on you. It won't be pretty."
